Valley Leadership to host National Conference (#ALPinAZ)
Valley Leadership has been selected, through a competitive bid process, to host the Association of Leadership Programs National Conference in 2017. The conference will be held in Downtown Phoenix, from June 22 to June 24. The Conference will feature up to 50 workshops, several keynote speakers, an awards banquet, and is expected to attract nearly 500 leaders from across the United States.
“It’s an incredible honor to host these leaders,” said VL President & CEO, Christy Moore, “and showcase our beautiful state, with its unique leadership landscape spanning long-standing programs like VL, to the emerging programs responding to the growth of Arizona’s communities.”
Some 50 local and regional nonpartisan civic-leadership training programs have been identified in Arizona, and VL plans to work collaboratively with the Arizona Center for Civic Leadership and its members to mirror Arizona’s diversity at the conference.
The Association of Leadership Programs strives to recognize excellence, foster innovation, share best practices, build networks with colleagues, and provide educational training and development to advance the effectiveness of community leadership programs and professionals.
The national leadership conference is an opportunity for leadership professionals to come together to network, share ideas and best practices, refresh leadership skills, and attend educational workshops. Also featured during the conference is the recognition of the annual Distinguished Leader, Preceptor, and Excellence in Innovation Awards.
The 2015 conference was held last week in Huntsville, Alabama, home of the U.S. Army’s Redstone Arsenal, NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, and Cummings Research Park. The 2011 conference was held in Arlington, Virginia.
