News and Announcements

Today, Valley Leadership announced members of Valley Leadership Institute Class 41 and Valley Leadership Accelerate 2019. The two cohorts—a cross-sector mix of diverse leaders with multiple perspectives on issues—were chosen through a competitive selection process. Included in the cohorts are corporate and nonprofit executives, small business owners, public officials and servants. All are committed to working together under Valley Leadership’s “Principles of Doing” to address the most pressing issues facing our state.

Institute, Valley Leadership’s flagship nine-month program, goes deep into the issues facing Arizona, setting up the context and the connections to become meaningfully engaged. The program empowers leaders to have deeper impact on the issues via an expectation of “doing”, both short-term and longterm. The curriculum fosters commitment to tackling Arizona’s challenges and gives participants the know-how and network to get things done. Valley Leadership Institute is for leaders ready to take their impact to the next level.

“As Valley Leadership continues our drive toward impact, we are excited to welcome this diverse and well-rounded group of proven and future leaders into the Valley Leadership family,” said Dave Brown, Valley Leadership CEO. “The selection process was incredibly competitive showcasing the desire of many Arizonans to dig into the issues facing our state. We look forward to empowering this cohort with the knowledge and solutions to impact our great state.”

Accelerate, Valley Leadership’s shorter program, provides the lay of the land on the hot issues facing Arizona and connects participants with others already working on solutions. Leaders get up-to-speed with short, burst-style programming, interacting with the people making a difference and connecting with opportunities to get involved. The program is for individuals who are beginning their community work, are still exploring their leadership style and are ready to build the networks they’ll need to excel and thrive as a community leader.

“I am thrilled to welcome this year’s members of Institute and Accelerate to the powerful Valley Leadership network,” said Bridget Jones, new VP of Leadership Development. “As we continue to evolve programming to be focused on impact, our curriculum will be more experiential and strategic. Cohorts will be exposed, in real time, to the issues and opportunities facing our state, with the goal of helping them work together to outline solutions and create deeper impact.”

Since VL’s inception four decades ago, more than 3,000 leaders have come through the leadership development programming. As a part of the larger pivot toward impact, changes in the programming leverage the organization’s rich programmatic history and reputation while advancing current curriculum to be more timely, innovative and intentional.

Valley Leadership’s programs are supported by many community partners. The Institute’s Presenting Sponsors are Intel and Salt River Project and our Program Sponsor is Wells Fargo. The Valley Leadership Accelerate Presenting Sponsor is also Well Fargo.
