Valley Leadership Class of 34
Type of News Listing: Event
Brandi Smith Hunt is this year’s Greater Phoenix Light The Night Memorial Hero. She was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) a month after the Disney Tinkerbell ½ Marathon race in 2016. No one knows how long she had the disease. By the time they caught it, it was fairly progressed and Brandi started chemotherapy treatment in two days. A biopsy showed that 90% of her bone marrow had been overtaken by the leukemia cells.
After a long 2 year fight, Brandi lost her battle with ALL in May. Her motto during treatment was Be Positive after she learned her blood type was B+.
In her honor, family and friends are remembering Brandi by participating in Light The Night with Team Be Positive. http://pages.lightthenight.org/az/Phoenix18/BePositive
