LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
Empowering Current and Emerging Leaders to Strengthen Communities
For 35 years, Leadership Institute has been Valley Leadership’s premier program. Each year, 50 individuals are selected through a competitive process to participate in the nine-month institute, beginning in September and ending in June. Leaders at all stages of their careers have found Leadership Institute a life changing endeavor that has allowed them to go to the next level in their careers and personal lives. The Institute offers:
Increased Awareness and Understanding of Our Community
Participants receive firsthand exposure to the most important issues affecting our community directly from key stakeholders. Additionally, participants see how the community works through exclusive tours and experiences like a helicopter flight over Phoenix’s watershed, a ride-a-long with the Phoenix Police Department, and a tour of the Arizona State Prison.
Leadership Skills Development, Cultivation and Opportunities for Engagement
Participants also receive extensive executive leadership training developed specially for Valley Leadership by the Thunderbird School of Global Management. The training helps graduates function at the highest level of their chosen career path be it business, nonprofit, or government. Group projects provide the opportunity for class members to apply these skills and get actively involved in researching and presenting potential solutions for specific community issues.
A Broader Network of Personal and Professional Relationships
The bonds created through Leadership Institute have the potential to last a lifetime. Valley Leadership brings a diverse group of individuals together to share ideas, perspectives and values. Valley Leadership’s list of alumni is impressive including Leadership Institute graduates who have gone on to serve in public office, lead corporations and champion community organizations.
