VALLEY LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCES IMPRESSIVE NEW SLATE OF BOARD MEMBERS
SRP’s Catherine “Rusty” Foley Assumes the Helm as Chair of the Board
PHOENIX–Valley Leadership announced today its 2007 Board of Directors, including nine newly appointed members: Laura Capello, president, Capello Marketing; Julie Coleman, director, community relations, US Airways; Betty Doran, director of Human Resources, Collins College; Michelle Hernandez, executive director, Mountain Park Health Center Foundation; and George Khalaf, student, Dobson High School; Vicki King, president, Vicki King & Associates; Roy Miller, government relations/business development, Take Charge America; Marshall Shore, adult service coordinator, Maricopa County Library District; and Kim Sterling, community volunteer.
Catherine “Rusty” Foley, SRP’s manager of corporate affairs, has assumed leadership of the board, succeeding Katherine Cecala, chief operating officer for Valley of the Sun United Way, in the role of chairman. Foley brings more than 25 years corporate experience to her role as chairman, in addition to a passionate commitment to community. One of her first responsibilities was to announce the organization’s new executive director, Alison J. Rapping, after a multi-month search process led by herself and a committee of internal and external stakeholders.
“The Board is extremely excited about the work ahead of us in helping to continue Valley Leadership’s legacy of empowering individuals to connect, learn and lead in our community,” said Foley. “We have a strong board and are eager to build on the solid foundation that has been laid over the proud history of this organization." The 24-member board is responsible for leading the nearly 30-years strong non-profit organization in fulfilling its mission of 'enhancing the abilities of individuals to serve and strengthen our communities'.
